Hey, Abbot

Me:
Do you remember the show Gilbert?

My Wife:
I don't know.

Me:
He was an old cartoon.

My Wife:
Ooo, is that the one with the little orange guy?

Me:
No that's Gerbert. And he was a puppet.

My Wife:
Oh, well who is Gilbert?

Me:
Gilbert had a yellow shirt buttoned all the way up.

My Wife:
Are you sure it was yellow?

Me:
No, not positive.

My Wife:
Because there was a cartoon with a guy who had a white shirt buttoned all the way up.

Me:
That was Dilbert. And he was a comic.

My Wife:
Oh, well who is Gilbert?

Me:
He was a stupid cartoon character. He had hair like Alfalfa.

My Wife:
I don't know who you're talking about.

Turns out his shirt was orange, and his name was Grimley.

He wasn't originally a cartoon though - he was from a skit on Saturday Night Live!

It was Martin Short who played him, and he would get in these really awkward situations.

And then for some reason, someone decided they would make it into a cartoon for kids.

Edward Grimley. With the tall pants and the weird laugh.

Silly kittens.

In other news, I wonder if they'll ever make children's cartoons of any of Andy Samberg's recent skits... No? Yeah? Maybe? Okay.
